Fire Risk Assessment Expert

Property compliance company BES Consulting has strengthened its Technical Advisory Board with the appointment of Alan Somers, one of the country's leading fire risk assessment experts.

During a 25 year career in the Fire Service, Alan worked his way up to the position of divisional commander and was North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service's performance review officer.

His position included responsibility for ensuring that all operational firefighters and other members of the brigade's staff were suitably trained and were competent in their individual roles.

While working for the brigade, Alan was seconded to the Home Office as an instructor at the Fire Service College where he specialised in in incidents involving hazardous material.

In his new role, Alan will ensure that BES Consulting offers services based on the very latest fire compliance legislation and he will be part of the company's quality team, assessing the skills and competence of the firm's field-based surveyors.

"Property managers need us to reduce compliance costs and risk, while at the same time ensuring that their portfolio meet the latest statutory requirements," said Alan.
